Beauty becomes truly empowering when it moves beyond the surface and into a deeper experience. For some, that’s physical beauty. For others, it’s an inner state of being.
In my 20s, when I was modelling, beauty was all about the physical. I spent my days chasing the right weight and competing for magazine covers and Vogue spreads. It wasn't my path and my soul felt restless. I wanted something more.
I left modelling at 24 and wandered through theatre, acting, even TV presenting. But it wasn’t until I picked up a paintbrush in my early 30s that something inside me clicked. Becoming an artist was cathartic. Suddenly, the sky looked impossibly blue and trees felt like old friends. I’d find myself in parks quietly hugging them, wondering if they could feel my presence.
That was my first taste of a deeper beauty—the kind that comes from connection and creativity. It’s a state that feels like being in love, but without expectation. A complete passion for life itself.
A few years ago, I would drive home past a street lined with giant fig trees arching into a canopy. Every day they filled me with gratitude and love. Within a year, without ever planning it, I found myself living under their shade. Some would call it coincidence, but I’ve seen it happen too many times to believe that. Passion—what I call “the beauty state”—has its own quiet power.
When we embrace beauty in this way, without wanting anything in return, life has a way of meeting us in extraordinary ways.
You are more beautiful and powerful than you know.
